An Irish company has come up with a way to simplify logistics in the digital age, but it may not be as easy as it sounds.
According to the Irish Times, the company, D3 Technologies, has developed a new system that allows a team of 10 people to operate a business as if they were an employee and have the flexibility to switch between different roles on the fly.
D3 Technologies CEO, Peter O’Mahony, said the idea for the simplified technology was born out of necessity after being asked to design a digital logistics system for a business he had worked with in the past.
“It was quite an exciting experience working with the logistics team in the company where I worked for many years, and I’ve also worked with a lot of the same people, but when it comes to the digital side, it’s the opposite.
So I was asked to work on a new way to work with the team and that was when the idea came about,” he said.
The system is said to be simple enough for most of the people working on the system to understand, but the company has said it is intended for the highly skilled in the logistics sector, who are known for their expertise and need to make decisions in the moment.
O’Mahoney said the system could be used by anyone who works in the space, from a new start-up to a company that has gone out of business.
“You can get to a point where you can start thinking about the way you want to run your business and how you want the company to function, but you don’t have to,” he explained.
This new system will enable people to use digital technology to operate more efficiently, and to avoid the need to constantly change roles.
While there is a learning curve to the system, O’ Mahony said it was worth it because it could make a huge difference to the lives of those who work in the industry.
More to come.
